Hey, Slick!
I’m glad you’re here.
Because there is hope.
We need better futures.
I mean that literally, and then some.
The future won’t write itself, and what has been written isn’t exactly rosy: our science-fiction is either dystopian or post-apocalyptic, and every new day asks Why not both?
We talk about collapse like it’s coming.
But the collapse has already happened.
Not just environmental or economic, but something deeper: the collapse of meaning. The collapse of orientation.
We had been warned. Modernity had its flaws.
Now, it has new faces. Old myths resuscitate, new ones rise from the ashes of the Enlightenment, and mistaking darkness for depth is all the rage.
We can do better than that, Slick.
I know I’m trying.
